A Mom’s attitude when it comes to breastfeeding, and indeed being a Mom in general, is paramount.

One Mom who writes about breastfeeding and other mothering topics shared with me: “Some women dole out their breastmilk like a medicine.” In other words, they seem to have resentful feelings towards their baby for “taking” from them. A shift in thinking can make life so much more fulfilling.

Breastfeeding can be a beautiful metaphor for life. I thought Rocio’s words were so inspiring:

“I quickly discovered with nursing our first child, past her 1st birthday, that my attitude was 99% of the struggle.  When I viewed my time with my nursing child as a treasured time that was completely unique to us, my heart changed and I enjoyed my child

We live in seasons and so easily one can want to rush off to the next thing and forget to embrace all that this time has to offer.

I have learned to be more patient, gentle, kind, generous and loving toward my children when I see them not as burdens but as the gifts they are.

And I know that there will be a time when my little boy will rush off to play with friends with a quick 'bye Mom', so this time of undivided attention is to be cherished not scorned.”
